Diglet is a hybrid utility location management application that’s fully responsive and works on any device.
Have you ever had to dig in your yard to plant a tree, remove a sidewalk, install a sprinkler system, put in a pool, or build an addition? Some guys probably came by, painted lines all over the ground and planted little flags everywhere. In the state of Illinois there is a free service that coordinates all of this called JULIE.
JULIE handles all utility location requests throughout the state and sends them to whichever municipality oversees the underground utilities where you live, (e.g. Comcast, ComEd, The City of West Chicago, Wheaton, etc). JULIE sends the requests to mark these locations directly to the utility owners via fax and or email. Sounds old school right? This is where Diglet comes in.
Diglet intercepts JULIE’s emails, parses them into a database, and wraps a simple application around all of it. The web-based application digitizes each request, plots it on a map, and provides a suggested workflow to resolve multiple tickets in the most efficient manner possible. Utility owners might receive anywhere from 50 to 1000's of these requests every day. It’s a ton of information to keep track of. Diglet handles it all !
We wanted the name of our company to be fun- something catchy that’s easy to remember and stands out amongst the stodgy, over-engineered products that are out there right now.
We chose the name Diglet as a tip of the cap to the legendary Truffle Hogs of Italy which were specially trained to sniff out and unearth expensive and difficult-to-locate truffles- some as deep as 3 feet underground, without damaging the valuable gourmet fungi. Like the Truffle Pig, Diglet manages the delicate process of locating expensive utilities with simple and precise efficiency.
