Our full name is Celeritas Laboratories.
Our nickname is C-Lab.
Celeritas is latin for "swift".
In physics, c is the speed of light, as in Einstein's equation E=mc^2.
This c stands for celeritas.
Thus, the idea of a lightbeam was used in our shortened logo. We like the idea of it being somewhere in the new designs as well.
We want to convey a feeling of forward momentum, like we are the ones carrying humanity's progress.
We want to convey a feeling of advanced science without carrying the boring connotations of old men in lab coats. It must be sleek and intense, but not playful. You should feel like you can trust these people to make a rocket that will get you to Mars, or find a cure for cancer.
It must feel elite. We want a logo that conveys that we are the best at what we do.
We have a long name. The word Celeritas is already hard to pronounce for most people. The font must be readable. It shouldn't be hard to read and pronounce. Strike a balance between style and direct readability.
This contest will be for 2 logos, a full name logo and a nickname version. They obviously must be stylistically similar and relate-able. Please submit the logos as one submission each time.
They of course must be able to be printed well in black and white and in color. They will be pressed into leather, printed on paper, embroidered etc.
The versions of the logos we have used up until now are attached. Don't feel the need to rely too heavily on them for inspiration, though. They aren't up to par.
We aren't looking for a mascot. No drawings of spacemen or rockets.
The inclusion of things related to light are at your discretion, but keep it amorphous. We have beams of light in our earlier designs. That is as concrete as we really are looking for. This should really just be focused on the style of the name.
