Hula is a smart notebook helping scientific research teams double their pace of discovery. Website: projecthula.com The users / target market are research scientists working in the physical and life sciences (i.e. Semiconductors, Pharmaceuticals). Repeating known failures and re-solving solved problems (within teams) accounts for half of all research spending. Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELN) have started to gain adoption but carry the same issue of keeping information siloed within teams. Meaning whether I take notes in Evernote or in a paper notebook -- they are still only useful to me. To further explain the context: How research science works today, is a scientist will work on teams but individually run experiments using paper notebooks and printed excel spreadsheets. The problem is their results stay siloed to that individual - so, say for example, one scientist (lets call him Allen) figured about that mixing chemical A and chemical B would ruin his experiment. Well fast forward a few weeks and now his colleague down the hall, Brian, is running an experiment and decides to mix chemical A and B but because Allen was the one who know that was an issue Brian ends up losing 2 weeks of work.
Other color requirements
I'd like to explore the following colors: Oranges: Creativity, adventure and happiness. Light neutrals: Purity, balance and sophistication. Let designers make suggestions:
Hula is an acryonym for: Hu (Human) La (Lab Assistant). I like the idea of playing on elements from the Periodic Table (see a few versions attached) that I threw together. I am not a graphic designer and really don't like what I put together (hence the competition) -- so don't feel limited to the examples. Rather, use the "Periodic table elements" as a design direction with two (fictitious) elements: Hu (Human element) + La (Lab Assistant) The concept of Hula is that combining Humans (Brain Power) + La (Information) leads to more discoveries and less wasted effort. Also -- I'd really like an icon that is brandable. Hex #ff9900 is the primary Orange we've been using but doesn't have to stay that color (though a primary Orange is requested). I am prompt about ample feedback b/c I dont expect you to read my mind. There will be a winner to this contest -- looking forward to working with you. Nate
