We are a company that will sell software for people trading on financial markets (traders). The software that we sell is a database that traders can use to manage their data, specifically, their tick data. 'Tick' here is a term in finance to mean a piece of data that is part of a larger set of data that is organised by time. An example of a 'tick' is a piece of data containing the price of a share being traded at a particular point in time. We can then have a number of these 'ticks' put together in a series to show how the price of a share changes over time. The word 'Tickstory' is a play on the word 'history', which refers to the software's purpose as a historical database for traders.
We want our logo to represent/convey/be associated with (doesn't have to include all these):
- dissemination of information
We would like a logo that is an image instead of one that contains text. For example, we do not want a logo that is a stylised 'T' to denote Tickstory. We do not want the logo to contain a checkmark (the symbol that appears when a checkbox is selected on a form), as this symbol does not have anything to do with 'ticks' in finance/trading. The logo should be symbolic and can have multiple colours, or be a single colour (such as the Android logo).
Please see our current logo on http://www.tickstory.com. The current logo has a few elements - the horizontal lines on the left denote information coming into the database, while the 'radio waves' on the right denote the dissemination of information. The 'bar graph' in the middle denotes using the data being visualised/analysed in charts. The new logo does not need to contain all the same elements, but this just serves as an example of how the logo should tie in with the keywords listed above. To be particular, the bar charts are not overly "financial" in nature and instead it would be nice to have candle charts or line/area charts (see examples below or please Google for some inspiration).
Some other websites that also sell related software include:
The logo will be used on our website, alongside the 'Tickstory' text. This is why we do not want any text in the logo itself. Also, the logo will be used as part of a Windows software application, so it must be resizable to 16x16, 32x32 and 64x64. This will allow us to use it as an icon for the application, as well as on the various screens inside the application.
Please - get your creative juices going! We are looking for something dynamic and fresh and we will give you all the guidance we need to tell you whether you're on track!
