I am setting up a company to hold my investments. I named the firm WestSky because it derives from the destination in "Journey to the West", which is one of the 4 classics of Chinese literature (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Journey_to_the_West).
The Monkey King in particular is a character that leaves a deep impression on readers, and it would be great to incorporate some type of design that shows him in a simple, stylized, but recognizable format. My investments are long-term and forward looking so it would also be great to incorporate some sense of "journey" into the logo. Having the words "WestSky" or "West Sky" worked into the logo would be great, but not necessary.
I tend to like logos that have rounded rather than edgy lines. I would like this to be a modern interpretation of a classic piece of literature.
Please see the attached images for some depictions of the characters.
Thank you and I look forward to seeing your designs!
UPDATE: to clarify, I would like black/white/yellow OR black/white/blue in the logo since I just realized yellow/blue clash with each other. Also, I would prefer if the text is subordinate to the logo in size so the logo is the focal point of attention.
UPDATE 10/03/03: as an alternative design that I may also like, it would be interesting to see a simple silhouette (all black, or white against black box background) of the 4 characters in the attached samples below walking towards the left side of the screen - basically something like a reversed Coach or Hermes logo).
