edward.lansink got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Design an awesome logo for a themed educational IT blog
Check out edward.lansink's Logo design contest…
We're a backup software company selling to businesses and run a few blogs with purely educational content (as opposed to commercial/product content). This logo will be used for one of these blogs, themed with martial arts/karate (hence the name Dojo). MSP in this context refers to Managed Services Provider - basically companies that are hired to provide IT services (e.g. if you're a small shop you hire these guys to setup your computers and network and they will make sure everything runs the way you need it to. Like an outsourced IT department basically.
Other color requirements
We need a shade of purple that goes well with the orange we use in our regular branding (see brand guide attached). Other blogs in the portfolio currently are www.altaro.com/hyper-v/ (recently received a facelift) and www.altaro.com/vmware/. MSP Dojo blog is new and WIP.
We'll be using the Dojo theme across our other blogs as well (which means we will need follow up work once we have a winning logo for this project). Those blogs are all about specific IT technologies and have a different colour (light blue and light green). We need the MSP Dojo logo to be based on a shade of purple. The audience are systems administrators, IT managers/directors and aren't used to super playful logos or flashy/polished designs. Basic doodling attached - doesn't need to be specifically similar, just the direction we're thinking towards. FONT CHOICE: Ideally complimentary or matching Google web font since primary use is on the blog. Having said that, we may use the logo in print in future as well.
