Small marketing consulting company. Target audience is small/medium technology companies. "Red Shift" refers to the Doppler effect on light as the Universe expands. The theme then is we want to "expand" or grow your business. Current thought is to play with the "S" in Shift and have it elongated to show expansion. That would be the core element to the Logo.
Logo types to explore
Simple, elegant that subtly conveys the expansion theme. Red color to highlight the "Red Shift name" but not too much of it. Perhaps use the S as the focal point, doing something graphically creative with it to show shifting, or expansion or speed.
