ben.waber got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Create a new logo for the leader in people analytics and wearables
Check out ben.waber's Logo design contest…
We use wearable sensors (think company ID badges with microphones, radios, motion sensors, etc) to capture how people collaborate at work. We're looking at networks of people (who talks to whom) and how people talk to each other, things like tone of voice, interruptions, and volume, but without analyzing content. We can also look at what areas of the office are popular with location data. By combining our metrics with performance data in companies, we give individuals feedback on their own behavior- i.e. what they can do differently to increase happiness or performance, and give companies dashboards on what's happening across the company, but not at an individual level. We only collect data on an opt-in basis and don't give individual data to our customers (privacy is very important to us). We want to emphasize how we're "humanizing" companies using data. Instead of people making decisions on how to run a company just based on their gut, now we have data about what we actually do at work. Our target audience is both our customers (executives of Fortune 500 companies), as well as the front line employees in those organizations. Right now our technology is deployed more in office environments, but in the future we see this being deployed in retail and one-on-one sales situations as well.
Logo types to explore
The first picture below shows someone using our current wearable sensor (the badge). The next picture shows various views on our new device. Importantly, we don't make money on the device, but the analytics that we build on top of them. Still for front line users who wear the badge every day, it's their closest touchpoint with our product. We have to spend a lot of time with participants building up trust so they'll use our technology, and the logo should help build that trust.
