chrisvdb got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Create an identity for the nextgen payment network in Asia!

We provide a network of Ripple gateways in Asia. To gain a high-level understanding of Ripple please take quick look at the 2 min video on the http://ripple.com/ homepage. In short, Ripple is a next-generation global payment network which will allow people to make payments cheaper and more conveniently than ever before. Think convenient micro payments for accessing some proprieterary content online or international payments which cost cents instead of 30+ USD and take seconds instead of days. A Ripple gateway provides a connection between the Ripple network and today's financial system. A gateway allows you deposit your hard-earned dollars/euros/... in the Ripple network (in cash, through electronic transfer or credit card) and have it instantly available anywhere on the Ripple network. You can then use the Ripple network to make payments, convert currencies, invest, send money back home, etc. We provide a number of Ripple gateways throughout Asia, thereby making the Ripple network more accessible by removing the need to send money internationally to the US or Europe.
Logo types to explore
- rppl.asia (pronounced "Ripple.Asia") is our domain name... the go-to-market name does not necessarily need to be the same. It could use Ripple instead of rppl for example. - The Asian angle is what makes us unqiue - The logo needs to come across as modern/young, fast, innovative - But at the same time it needs to ingrain a sense of security and reliability (people will be sending us their hard-earned cash afterall!) - We will _not_ consider logos that are too similar to the official Ripple logo (see ripple.com) as that would lead to confusion. The logo can borrow some aspects from the official logo, though, but it's definitely not a requirement. - We envision our website and brand image similar to Dropbox... clean, modern, accessible, friendly.
