COMPANY BACKGROUND Company Name: “Curlec”. It stands for Recurring Collection. What we do? We are an early stage FinTech startup based in Malaysia. We have built software that makes it really easy for businesses to accept recurring payments automatically. We do this by building technology on top of bank to bank payment systems, like Direct Debit. Our goal is to make the recurring payment collection process for businesses as simple and frictionless as possible. What industry are we in? Technology, Finance, FinTech Who is our Target Audience? We are a B2B company as our clients will be businesses. Our product will be available to all businesses, regardless of whether they are SMEs or large organisations, and irrespective of industry type. The only requirement is that they have a need to collect recurring payments / subscriptions. Examples of the industries that our product will be targeted for: • Gyms & Sports Clubs • Professional Services • Schools • Charities • Financial Services • Telecoms • Utilities • Magazines/Newspapers There is also a “B2C” element to our product as business’ customers will be able to log into our system to manage and track all their existing recurring payments. For example, a user will be able to log into the system and view their gym membership, phone bill and utility bill payments all in one place. DESIRED LOGO STYLE As an early stage startup, our logo will be the first thing that people will see relating to our company. We would like to keep the logo simple, modern and clean to reflect that we are a FinTech company. We would also possibly like to include an icon into the wordmark that should be unique enough to stand on its own. The logo should make Curlec recognisable and give the image that we are a young, fresh, disruptive company in the very traditional banking/finance industry in Malaysia. The FinTech industry is starting to develop pace in Malaysia and we want to be seen as one of the pioneers of this. We have yet to officially launch the company so we want a logo that creates an impactful and memorable image for the Curlec brand as we are looking to grow and scale quickly. Feelings to Convey: Curlec is a company that combines both youth and experience within its team. We would like to keep it fresh and forward thinking but still maintain the appearance of being an expert in our field that businesses can trust. We also want to convey a feeling of being open, personable and transparent - traits that you would not normally associate with the traditional banking industry. Colours: We have previously used purple but are open to ideas. Font: We want a modern, clean and fresh typeface. We would also possibly like some kind of graphical element to the wordmark. RELATED COMPANIES The companies below are in the Fintech industry but based in other countries. We want our logo to convey a similar brand and image as these companies. The FinTech industry in Malaysia is still relatively new and we think that presenting ourselves in line with successful, fast-growing FinTech companies will set us apart. • GoCardless (https://gocardless.com/) - a company doing Direct Debit payments. By definition they are a B2B company, but also have a B2C interaction. • Stripe (https://stripe.com/) - a company doing online payments for ecommerce. A company that has B2B and B2C elements. • Monzo (https://monzo.com/) - a digital “challenger bank” based in London that is for personal banking. Raised funds through crowdfunding, a process that we will also be going through. • Currencycloud (https://www.currencycloud.com/#one) - a B2B payments platform for transferring money internationally. • Atom Bank (https://www.atombank.co.uk/) - a digital “challenger bank” based in London for personal banking. • Starling Bank (https://www.starlingbank.com/) - a digital “challenger bank” based in London for personal banking. ADDITIONAL IDEAS: Curlec has the word “curl” in it, maybe something can be done with this. Our system makes the entire recurring payment collection process automatic (“circular” or “whole” if you like). Additionally the name begins and ends with a “c”, which in our opinion gives it a circular/whole/complete feel. Curlec is made up of 2 words, “recurring” and “collection”. Maybe something can be done with this? MUST HAVES: • Modern, clean and simple • Max 3 colours • Able to be black and white
