What industry do you think your business is most related to?
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
We sell PDF annotation apps to three core markets: Engineering/Construction workers Education (students and teachers) Other Business users (legal, professional services etc.) The PDF annotation tools allows users to upload a PDF (e.g. drawing/report/schoolwork etc.) then edit and annotate easily using a Windows 8 stylus device
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
NOTE: The initial designs that have been sent in have not been following instructions. We want designs that are flat, simple, and with little detail. They have so far been too lifelike, round and colourful. Please refer to examples 1, 3, and 4 in the attachment. We want to create three mascots/avatars of our core markets. We want an avatar/mascot for: 1. A male engineer wearing a hard hat and a high visibility jacket with shirt and tie underneath (see engineer images (2, 6 & 7) in attachment) 2 A young male student (e.g. final year of high school) who is a bit shorter than the other two wearing casual clothes 3. A female business blonde woman wearing a corporate suit (no tie) and white shirt (see woman image (8) in attachment) They must all be holding a tablet with a stylus (e.g. image 5) This is for a Windows 8 product, so we want to go for a sort of flat design (image 3) You might notice that the mascots in the images (1,3, & 4) of the attachment have fine detail for facial expressions (e.g. the smile on the faces, beady eyes and little detail for noses). This is what we like in a mascot. We need the mascots to be presentable to enterprise users yet fun enough that they can be likeable to audiences such as students. We want to present a picture of being professional and efficient. It would desirable, but not essential, to have solid outlines of the mascots too (i.e. silhouettes) that are distinguishable for being their personas so that we could use them in other scenarios..
There is strong potential for future scope. We want to be able to use variations of these mascots all over our website, marketing material and in our app. Kind of like how the Zookal monkey is replicated over their website - www.zookal.com We will also probably want to have it animated in an instructional video for Drawboard. If you provide a GREAT design, then you will get LOTS of work.
