Lorid got their new icon or button by running a design contest:
XI Technologies Icon Set
Check out Lorid's Icon or button contest…
XI makes web-based software products for the oil & gas industry. Using our software, people who work in the energy industry can crunch a ton of data to make better, faster decisions. Our customers are diverse (for example, big oil and gas companies like Shell, bankers who finance deals, service companies who sell rigs, or engineers who are drilling wells). They all are accessing huge databases of information and to find answers questions to their oil & gas questions (Where should I drill? What company should I buy? Who is the best company to buy a rig from?)
What's your vision?
A set of icons for our products. The icons will be visual identifiers on the website and the product application itself. Our products are divided into suites: "Asset" - products for bankers, investment folks, people looking to buy or sell land or companies. "Drilling Research" - products for people who are planning to drill wells. "Regulatory" - products for people who need to comply with government rules and regulations. We'd like to assign a color to each suite. For example, all products in the Drilling Suite are red. We would need ONE icon for a suite, with the product name below. (see photo example.) There would be THREE distinct designs in total, with different product names below. Some of the products have MODULES, so we would scale-down the icon to show that it is a module for a main product. (see attached mock-up) Here's the breakdown of the products and their modules: 1. AssetBook (main Asset Suite product) a) AB Graphs (module for AssetBook product) b) PoolBook (module for AssetBook product) c) LandBook (module for AssetBook product) 2. Offset Analyst (main Drilling product) a) Analytics (module for Offset Analyst) This one a bit more confusing - we have web-based Regulatory reports and Excel-based Regulatory reports. There should be ONE icon, but it needs to indicate whether the report is available on the Web or Excel) 3. Regulatory - EXCEL (main Regulatory product) 3.1 Regulatory - WEB (main Regulatory product a) There are several Regulatory modules here, names to be determined. So we need 3 different icon designs, with the corresponding product names below. As for suggestions, I think Asset Suite should have some kind of book in the design. Drilling should have a drilling rig (not a pump jack). Regulatory Reports should have some kind of paper or clipboard with a checkmark...there should be a symbol to indicate WEB or EXCEL reports. (samples attached) *Update: ideally, the finished icon should be a stand-alone, ORIGINAL design, with a text product name below. The icon can be defined by a border or stroke. It DOES NOT need to be self-contained. They should match or complement our website colors: www.xitechnologies.com It should be professional, not too cartoon-y. It will appear next to our logo (attached)
Should coordinate with our corporate colours: XI Red: Hex: C13828 Grey: Hex: 9a9e9f
