QuakeInfo is an iOS app I previously published in the App Store and which I'm in the process of updating for iOS 8. From the App Store description:
"Using data from the U.S. Geological Survey, QuakeInfo displays earthquakes of magnitude 2.5 or greater occurring anywhere in the world during the past week.
"QuakeInfo has two main views: a Quake List and a Quake Map. Earthquakes in the Quake list can be sorted by date and time, magnitude or the distance from your current location or any other location on Earth which you choose (even the epicenter of any earthquake). You can also choose to always see strong earthquakes (magnitude 6.0 or greater) on this view no matter where they occur. On the Quake map, you can review the past week's earthquakes on a world map. Look for patterns, and see how earthquakes reveal the presence of faults in the earth's crust. You can even share earthquake information and a link to the USGS Earthquake Report on Twitter directly from the app."
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
I'm looking to update the icon so it better matches the look and feel of iOS 8. I'd also like something less cartoonish than my current icon. A seismograph is an obvious icon, but I'm happy with something that's not obvious as long as it is clearly associated with earthquakes but sends a positive (not scary, as would be the case if it was depicting destruction) message of trust. Feel free to pull inspiration from the app itself--I've attached screenshots of the latest version of the app (still in development). The images show the quake list screen and the quake map screen (both with satellite maps and without).
I'm very excited about seeing what you come up with for my app's new icon. Please let your creativity flow. I publish these apps under the company name Atomic Powered (logo attached), and you should feel free to draw inspiration from the company logo, if that would be help.
