Have you read Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson? It’s my source of inspiration. It describes the Central Intelligence Corporation (CIC), an amalgamation of the former CIA and the Library of Congress, a database that holds browsable information. Then there are stringers who feed information into this database, hoping to get paid when people find it useful. And there are gargoyles who vacuum up the information around them, constantly feeding it in, audio and video. Clients browse the database and pay for information they find useful.
Emotiq is a brand-new blockchain and cryptocurrency company that’s looking to make the above concept a reality by collecting, organizing and visualizing vast quantities of information about our world.
The number of smartphones in the world is numbering in the billions and soon there will be a smartphone in every pocket. These smartphones are the eyes and ears that will feed information into the database, running on top of the blockchain, and enable people to get paid when clients find the information useful.
A network of stringers and gargoyles in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, all feeding information into the biggest and most scalable information database ever, and making money in the process.
A stringer may be feeding targeted or focused information, from time to time or on request, whereas a gargoyle is just vacuuming up information about the outside world and feeding it in all the time, indiscriminately and in the hope of lucking out.
A gargoyle is a person wearing en elaborate harness of various kinds of computing and capture equipment.
