Ideally I would like our logo to associate our company name and brand to these characteristics:
1. A highly capable, dependable and experienced company that our customer's can trust.
2. An innovative company that is constantly evolving our service offerings to best meet the needs of our customers.
3. A mature and stable company that will be around for the long haul.
The steam boiler was invented in 1867 and steam power was a key component of the first industrial revolution. As such, there are a lot of good historical images on the internet if you search for "boiler room" "steam gauge" "steampunk". As you can see with the attached image of the furnace door, in some cases the older boilers did have a sense of design that could be used in a logo.
I am torn, however, in how we communicate the innovative spirit of our company if we pull in some of this older imagery. Hoping you folks have some magic here.
I prefer simple logos that are intentional and manage to communicate the intended message with as simple a design as possible (i.e Caterpillar, Apple, Mercedes, etc.)
Logo and color combination will need to work well on computer printed material (invoices, MS Word templates, etc) as well as clothing (shorts, hats, etc).
